Studio Paradiso is based in the Central Victorian Goldfields in a little hamlet called Sandon, 15 min from Castlemaine.
The Art studio is available to rent as a short term B & B style accommodation and even as a long-term artist in residence. Diana also conducts regular workshops teaching people the printmaking process. Accommodation is $150 per night with discounts given for longer stays.
A beautiful building steeped in history, Studio Paradiso started it’s life in the 1800’s as a church, then became a public hall and was the focal point of many dances, meetings and social engagements. The walls almost whisper with the remnants of a summer dance, the cheery music, breathless giggles, and a stolen kiss in the beautiful surrounding garden.
In more recent times, the old Sandon Community hall on …. HWY has become home to Studio Paradiso, the manifesto of a life long dream of Diana Orynda-Burns, who fell in love and bought the old property completely by accident after stumbling upon it’s auction one day. The tranformation of this spectacular property has been a long and slow labour of love. The surrounding gardens are being built up with beautiful paving and mosaics, the fruit trees and vines are being restored to their former glory, the doors have been painted a vivid and friendly blue and an ornate and feng shui fish urn has been installed at the entrance. All in all an enchanting visit awaits you, before you even walk through the door
The perfect sanctuary away from a hectic lifestyle, Studio Paradiso offers the printmaker a full working studio with … presses and loft sleeping quarters overlooking the whole studio space, which also offers a great perspective for viewing larger pieces. The well lit space is equipped with kitchen and bathroom facilities and can be utilised as a great country escape, and is truly an inspiring space.
